As you enter the working world after college, it's important to have professional experience to compliment what you have learned. Padgett, Stratemann & Co., L.L.P. (PS&Co.) is the best place to begin!

PS&Co.'s detailed internship program ensures you obtain hands-on practice in the accounting industry during the height of tax season. Under the supervision of senior level management, you will audit business and individual taxes, participate in client meetings, and immerse yourself in all aspects of the firm.

Our detailed program prepares you for the workforce transition. Also, it allows you an opportunity to see what it is like to work for one of the Best Places To Work in San Antonio. Video

Through our campus recruiting and on campus visits in February, March, and April, we make it a point to come to you. Our involvement with local accounting clubs, student mixers and Career Day events give us the best opportunity to get to know you and for you to get to know our firm.

Audit and tax internships are offered each year during the spring semester to qualified students. An internship at PS&Co. includes:

  • Hands-on practice in audit and tax fields
  • Face-to-face communication with clients
  • A bi-weekly salary
  • A potential full-time job once the internship program is complete

How does the internship process work?
Interviews for the spring internship program begin in September of the previous year. Offers for internships are generally made before Thanksgiving break.

Once the internship is awarded, and work begins, both audit and tax interns will have training sessions during their first week. They will also be assigned to a mentor who will guide them through the internship. Each intern will be integrated into all aspects of the firm, including monthly firm meetings, social activities, and volunteer activities.

What are the requirements?
For audit internships, candidates should have at least a 3.0 accounting GPA and have completed their Intermediate Accounting I and II courses before the internship begins. Audit interns will work on portions of audits, reviews, and compilations under close supervision and will spend most of their internship working at the client’s office. Please note that out-of-town travel is very possible.

For tax internships, candidates should have at least a 3.0 accounting GPA and have completed Intermediate Accounting I and II, individual tax, and corporate tax courses before the internship begins. Tax interns will work on a variety of tax clients, including individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
